White Collar Program
On October 29th, the White Collar team will present a program focused on the Supreme Court’s recent Kousisis decision. In Kousisis, the Court held that the federal mail and wire fraud statutes prohibit schemes to defraud by “fraudulent inducement,” even without proof of economic loss. Our program will address and update the never-ending saga of the precise, or rather imprecise, contours of these federal statutes. Because the mail and wire fraud statutes are major weapons in the DOJ’s arsenal, the Kousisis decision may have a wide impact on future federal white collar prosecutions. As always, the team will present an informative skit filled with humor, and numerous audio and video clips. In addition, this year’s program will feature a fireside chat with experienced counsel that will expand upon the legal issues raised in the skit.
Thank you to David Kerschner and Amanda Raines at Arnold and Porter for hosting and Amanda Raines, Diana Haladey, Laurie Brecher, Steve Tugander, and Glenn Colton for co-chairing!
Location: 250 W 55th St, New York, NY 10019.
