Historical Trial Program

THE CONSPIRACY TRIAL OF THE ROSENBERGS This year’s Historical Trial Team program will reenact the trial of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for conspiracy to commit espionage. At the height of the “Red Scare” in 1950, the Rosenbergs were charged with conspiring to transmit atomic secrets to the Soviet Union. They were tried in the Southern District of New York in 1951, convicted, sentenced to death, and executed. The guilty verdicts and death sentences in this high-profile case stirred national and worldwide controversy at the time, and they still remain controversial today, almost 75 years later. A panel discussion of the legal issues in the Rosenberg case will follow the trial reenactment. Please join us in exploring whether justice was served in this high-profile case. Location: Holland and Knight, 787 7th Ave, New York, NY 10019
