We held our FIRST official Howard T. Markey IP Inn of Court meeting for the 2018 - 2019 term at Knobbe Martens. The audience enjoyed watching some of the most junior members of Pupilage Group 5 engage in a mock claim construction hearing. The evening included some impressive arguments on both sides, accompanied by well-crafted PowerPoint presentations and even a demonstration of various "seated positions" in a floatation devise. Next up . . . opening statements!!

On November 18, we heard "Opening Statements" by Pupilage Group 2. Both sides used different techniques to present the case to shape the audience's perspective of the entire trial.

On January 19, we heard "direct and cross-examinations" by Pupilage Group 6. We saw a variety of techniques, and stellar witness preparation.

On February 26, we heard about how to prepare and defend "expert witness(es)" by Pupilage Group 3. We saw a variety of different techniques in cross (and re-direct).

On April 2, Pupilage Group 4 presented mock expert direct and cross-examinations of the "experts" on the issue of invalidity, demonstrating some effective techniques for both direct and cross-examination. This spurred a lively discussion of different effective techniques.

On May 7, Pupilage Group 1's Hana Oh and David Clark presented closing arguments for our Swimtime v. Water-Fun trial. Thank you to the Honorable James V. Selna for hosting and presiding over the closing arguments. Additional thanks to Hana, David, and the rest of Group 1 for finishing out our year strong.
