Community outreach coordinator, Margie Schroeder <email@example.com>, will be working to schedule service projects for the entire Inn. She will communicate with each group’s Service Coordinator but reach out to her if you have thoughts or want to help.
We appreciate that it is ambitious, but each group should try to “get out there,” in some way too. If you do, please let the rest of the Inn know at a meeting and send our president, Tyler Volm <firstname.lastname@example.org>, a few photos that he can share with the Inn and, possibly, the national organization. We will also try to populate this page with stories about pupilage group volunteerism!
Solomon Inn & Panner Inn Raise $1,100 and donate 944 lbs of Food!
On April 22, 2023, the Portland Inns of Court - the Solomon Inn and the Panner Inn came together to assist the Tualatin Food Pantry.
The event took place at the Tualatin Food Pantry, which is a part of the Oregon Food Bank and provides emergency food to households in a welcoming environment. The food pantry is not normally open on Saturdays, but they agreed to open up for our group and host our joint community service event.
For the item donations, the food pantry gave us a list of “most needed” items, which the members of both Inns used to do their shopping. On the day of the event, attendees helped each other unload their item donations and weighed all of the donations by Inn before sorting the donated items for use at the food pantry. The Solomon Inn brought donuts to the event and the Panner Inn brought coffee. Having joint tasks to complete helped us all to mingle and get to know one another.
In total, our two Inns jointly donated 944 pounds of items to the food pantry and $1,100.00. In order to encourage a strong turnout, we made it a friendly competition between our two Inns to see which Inn could donate the most items to the food pantry and donate the most money to the food pantry online. We won! But in the end, both Inns won because we helped make our community just a little bit stronger.
