The Gus J. Solomon Inn was established on March 10, 1988. Members of the Inn, including judges, lawyers, legal educators, and law students, come together to advance the primary mission of the Inn, which is to “foster excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills." One practical way we advance our mission is to ensure that seven of our yearly meetings qualify for 1-hour of CLE credit each.
Members also take great pride in the collegial atmosphere of the Inn (we often refer to ourselves as the "fun" Inn) and in our members' commitment to serving the community. The Inn tries to complete at least one Inn-wide community service project each year and individual pupilage groups are also encouraged to try to complete at least one project together. Moreover, at every meeting, members are encouraged to announce public service opportunities of interest. Finally, our Inn enjoys a warm relationship with the "other" Portland Inn, the Owen Panner Inn, and tries to have at least one joint-Inn meeting each year.
