The Benjamin Franklin American Inn of Court

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Benjamin Franklin American Inn of Court promotes skill improvement, professionalism and legal ethics. It does so primarily through collegial discourse and mentoring during monthly meetings at which "Pupillage Groups" are central. The Pupillage Groups employ skits intended to provoke thought and discussion on topics of interest to the profession.

Members of each Pupillage Group teach by role-playing, conveying valuable information on identified topics by simulating scenarios for situations and issues that arise in the practice of intellectual property (IP) law. Our meetings encourage broad participation by group members and audience members. By taking advantage of the vast and varied experiences of attendees, we all benefit.

Originally one of only a handful of Inns to specialize in the field of IP law, the Benjamin Franklin Inn was chartered in 1995. Our Inn has grown into a strong organization that is a major exchange of intellectual property knowledge, and became a founding participant in the Linn Inn Alliance of IP Inns.

The Benjamin Franklin American Inn of Court holds its meetings at various locations in the City of Philadelphia. In keeping with the collegial practice of the British Inns, a "host" organization provides food (hors d'oeuvres) and drink (wine, beer, and soft drinks) to foster social exchange following the formal presentation portion of the meeting. Pennsylvania CLE credit will be available.

Connect with us on our LinkedIn group and our Facebook group, which are open to members and prospective members.

To be sure of receiving our application and meeting notices via email, or for more information, please e-mail us.
