Engagement of Alumni, Emeritus, and Honorary Members
The Texas Tech University School of Law Inn of Court recognizes the importance of emeritus member participation in the Inn. Therefore, the Inn plan to increase its outreach to its emeritus members. In this regard, the President of the Executive Committee or his/her designee shall contact each emeritus member of the Inn prior to the fall and spring meetings. The contact with emeritus members will be in person and in writing. The purpose of contacting the emeritus members with such regularity is to provide Inn updates and to encourage its emeritus members to participate in meetings and programs. The Inn recognizes that its emeritus members are uniquely qualified to provide mentorship, not only to the students and associate members, but also to the Inn’s barristers and masters.
Engagement of Alumni, Emeritus, and Honorary Members
With our Inn being so new, we have a small number of Emeritus and Alumni members. In an effort to keep those members engaged, we extend invitations to all of the Emeritus and alumni members to meetings where we need substitutes as well as our year-end social.
Our alumni members stay engaged through mentorship opportunities in an attempt to keep them involved and active in the Inn when possible.
Finally, the Inn has 1-2 Honorary Members each year. These Honorary members are members that would provide great benefits to our Inn, but are unable to attend every meeting. For example, our current Honorary Member is Justice Phil Johnson, Texas Supreme Court Justice. As he is able, he does attend a few meetings every year and is such a contributor to the Inn. The Inn Leadership invites these members to all meetings and offers speaking opportunities.
