On November 13, 2018 the Randy J. Holland
Delaware Worker's Compensation AIC convened to celebrate its fifth
anniversary. The Holland Inn received charter on November 13,
2013 with the largest inaugural membership of any AIC in
history. In the five years since receiving charter, it has
been awarded Platinum status each year. Last year the Inn
compiled a cookbook entitled Supreme Cuisine to support the
founding of Kids Chance of Delaware, a non-profit whose mission is
to provide scholarship funds to the children of workers who were
killed or sustained catastrophic injuries on the job. To
date, the Holland Inn has raised over $7,000 for this
organization. On May 22, 2017 Inn members attended an
admission ceremony at the U.S. Supreme Court. On September
19, 2017 the Inn celebrated the retirement of its namesake Justice
Holland following more than 30 years of service on the Delaware
Supreme Court. In attendance were each of the Governors who
nominated Justice Holland to the bench, as well as past and present
members of the Delaware Supreme Court and Superior Court as well as
representatives of the national AIC Foundation. The Inn
presented Justice Holland with a bust that is currently housed at
the Delaware Law School in honor of his service.
However, the Inn considers its greatest achievement
bringing all parties involved in Delaware Worker's Compensation law
together as never before. Its membership includes attorneys
representing employers and claimants, members of the Board, Hearing
Officers, Judges of the Superior Court and Justices of the Supreme
Court joined together in common cause to provide a holistic and
balanced approach to this important area of the law, which affects
so many. The Holland Inn has come a long way in a short time, but
is just getting started and looks forward to accomplishing even
more in the years to come.
