The Inn donated $5,000.00 in funds raised to create a Delaware chapter of Kids Chance America, a national program for the benefit of children of workers catastrophically injured or killed as a result of workplace accidents.  The financial hardship created by the death or serious injury of a parent can make it difficult for deserving children to pursue their educational and vocational goals.  Kids Chance steps in to assist these families via scholarships to enable their children to attend college.

Officers of the Randy J. Holland Delaware Workers' Compensation American Inn of Court, including Inn namesake, Justice Holland and his law clerks, traveled to Washington D.C. to attend oral argument at the United States Supreme Court. The case of McFadden v. United States addressed the mens rea element for a criminal offense under the Controlled Substance Analogue Act. The issue was whether the government must show that the defendant knew the substance was illegal under the specific CSA Act or simply that it was illegal generally. The debate was spirited with eight of the nine Justices offering comments and posing difficult questions.

Following oral argument, the group was invited to meet with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in her chambers. Justice Ginsburg graciously welcomed questions and discussed topics ranging from her experiences on the Court to her love for opera.

The Inn Officers are forever grateful to Justice Holland and Justice Ginsburg for generously providing a truly unique and special experience.
