The Justice Marie L. Garibaldi American Inn of Court for ADR is the first Inn of Court devoted exclusively to alternative dispute resolution. The Inn was founded in 1998 and named in honor of Justice Marie L. Garibaldi, who was a noted practitioner and the first woman appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court. We invite you to watch a short video celebrating our recent 20th anniversary.
Although not following the traditional legal model of apprenticeship maintained for centuries by the Inns of Court in London, we have monthly meetings, that include cocktails, dinner and highly rated CLE programs. We have adopted the best of the social and professional attributes of the Inns to mentor our members in the practice of the various modes of dispute resolution other than litigation.
Every advocate must understand negotiation, dispute resolution options, and settlement possibilities and pitfalls. The Inn has always excelled in programming directed to these critical topics. We invite those interested in promoting both advocacy and neutral practice in the ADR field to apply for membership and participate in our activities, including our many substantive standing committees. The Inn is also dedicated to improving the lack of diversity in the ADR and legal fields, as noted in our Diversity Policy.
We are pleased to have received the Achieving Excellence Platinum Award since the 2013-2014 Inn Year, which ranks us among the top Inns of Court in the nation. To learn more about the Achieving Excellence Program, click here.
