THE JOHNSON COUNTY FAMILY LAW
AMERICAN INN OF COURT
(30466)
_____________________________________
ALUMNI, EMERITUS MEMBERS, AND
HONORARY MEMBERS
In addition to active members (Members of the Bench, Barristers,
Associates and Members-at-Large), The Johnson County Family Law
American Inn of Court may also have Alumni, Emeritus, and Honorary
Members.
ALUMNI
Inn Alumni are individuals who were in the past active members of
the Inn (at any level) but who have "retired" in good standing from
active membership in the Inn. "Retirement" from the Inn
simply means leaving active membership in good standing and does
not presume retirement from the practice of law.
EMERITUS MEMBERS
An Emeritus Member is a currently-active Master of the Bench who is
becoming an Alumnus and on whom the Inn Executive Committee has
bestowed special recognition by virtue of long and distinguished
service to the American Inn of Court. An Emeritus Member
should be one who has shown extraordinary commitment to and/or who
has made an extraordinary contribution to the Inn, and there will
generally be very few Emeritus Members.
HONORARY MEMBERS
An Honorary Member of the Inn may be any person, whether or not an
active or Alumni member of the Inn, and whether or not a practicing
or retired attorney or Judge, on whom the Executive Committee has
bestowed the designation Honorary Member, by virtue of that
person's distinguished service to the bench or bar, furtherance of
Inn objectives, and/or other noteworthy achievements.
STATUS OF ALUMNI, EMERITUS MEMBERS, AND HONORARY
MEMBERS
Alumni Members shall have no specific rights or privileges, except
as may be conferred by the Executive Committee. Emeritus
Members and Honorary Members shall not be required to pay dues,
attend meetings, or participate in other programs of the Inn, but
they shall enjoy all privileges of active membership except the
right to vote. The Executive Committee may assess appropriate
charges to Alumni, Emeritus Members, and/or Honorary Members for
attendance at social events or meetings.
INVOLVEMENT OF AND ENGAGEMENT WITH ALUMNI, EMERITUS
MEMBERS, AND HONORARY MEMBERS
The Inn is committed to maintaining engagement with its Alumni,
Emeritus Members and Honorary Members, and it does so in the
following ways:
-
All active Inn members are encouraged to maintain regular
contact with Alumni, Emeritus Members and Honorary Members, and to
share with them relevant events and information regarding the
Inn. Members are also encouraged to report back to the Inn
regarding significant circumstances and events involving such
Alumni, Emeritus Members and Honorary Members.
-
The Inn Secretary maintains a list of all Alumni, Emeritus
Members and Honorary Members, and such individuals are included on
notifications and information regarding significant events
involving the Inn.
-
The Inn endeavors to invite Alumni to Inn social events, and, to
the extent feasible, to monthly meetings and programs.
Emeritus Members and Honorary Members are always welcome and
invited to social events and regular meetings and
programs.
-
Alumni may at any time reapply for or be invited to membership
in the Inn on such terms as may be determined by the Executive
Committee.
-
It is the policy of the Inn to encourage active participation of
Alumni, Emeritus Members, and Honorary Members in Inn programs and
activities.
