The Hon. Robert M. Foster (Ret.) served as a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Foster was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bob Martinez in 1988. He retired on December 31, 2018.

Foster earned a B.A. from the University of West Florida in 1974 and an M.A. from the University of Florida in 1975. He completed a J.D. at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 1979.

His memberships have included the Civil Procedure Rules Committee of the Florida Bar, the Duval County School Board Law Advisory Committee, the Mayor’s Victim Assistant Advisory Council, and the Domestic Violence Intervention Project. He has also been involved with the Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, Youth Leadership Jacksonville, and the Boys’ Home Association, and he has chaired the Committee on Rules of Juvenile Procedure and the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast.

He is a recipient of the Judicial Advocate Award from the Guardian ad Litem Program and the Outstanding Member of the Judiciary Award from the Jacksonville Jaycees. The Nassau County American Inn of Court was renamed the Robert M. Foster American Inn of Court in 2010, and the Nassau County Judicial Annex was renamed the Robert M. Foster Justice Center in 2015.
