Mentoring Program

Over the past years, Mentoring in the Thomas More Loyola Law School Inn of Court has focused on providing opportunities for our student pupillage members to interact with the Judiciary and Bar on an informal basis to provide a little insight into the practice prior to their graduation.  The number of students, traditionally 12 seniors from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, has been increased over the years to 20 student members, who are encouraged to attend all six annual meetings at a greatly reduced cost.

In the past, students have been formally and informally assigned to both Barristers and Masters of the Inn to give a specific point of contact where the student member can participate in court hearings, depositions or simply observe the legal and judicial practice.  In current years, while no formal pairing has been pursued, students are given informal opportunities, especially by our extremely-involved judiciary to observe hearings and trials.  Our mentoring program is evaluated by questions posed in our annual membership satisfaction survey.

In the near future, the Executive Committee of the Inn aspires to re-institute a formal mentoring program, following the resources of the American Inn of Court Model mentoring program created in conjunction with the Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough Center for Professionalism.
