Leadership and our Executive Committee
The Leadership of the Thomas More Loyola Law School Inn of Court is comprised of both elected and appointed officers. Our President and Vice-President (Counselor) are elected for a 2-year term at the meeting of the Masters of the Inn pursuant to our by-laws. In the past, the Vice-President (Counselor) succeeds as President for the next 2-year term, however, this is not mandatory under the by-laws. Traditionally, the Inn has rotated Presidential terms between a member of the Judiciary and a member of the Bar. Our past Presidents include:
-1990 Hon. Adrian G. Duplantier
-1992 Hon. A.J. "Buddy" McNamara
-1994
-1997 M. Nan Alessandra
-1999 John R. "Jack" Martzell
-2001 Ernest E. Svenson
-2003 Hon. Carl J. Barbier
-2005 Paul B. Deal
-2007 Hon Ivan L. R. Lemelle
-2009 Todd R. Slack
-2011 Hon. Ronald J. Sholes
-2013 Adam B. Zuckerman
-2015 Hon. Madeleine M. Landrieu
-2017 Edward W. Trapolin
-2019 Hon. Laurie White
-2021 Kelly McNeil Legier
The Executive Committee is rounded out with the Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Chair, Programming Chair, Outreach Chair, Diversity Chair and several at-large members, all who are appointed by the President upon election to that office. Members of all ages (and especially our younger members) are encouraged to join the Executive Committee; there are no formal requirements other than a willingness to serve and bring their enthusiasm to the Committee.
