Temple Inn of Court Mentor Program
The mission of the American Inns of Court (AIC) is to foster
excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility and legal skills
for judges, lawyers, academicians and students. A mentor program
has been created to assist all members in achieving the goals of
the AIC and the Temple American Inn of Court in promoting and
preserving the practice of law as a learned profession, and
upholding the highest standards of the profession with dignity,
civility and courtesy.
Mentoring Objectives:
The object of the mentor program is: (1) to continue to promote the
purpose, goals and operations of the Inn; (2) educate new members
with regard to the principals and practices of the Inn; (3)
encourage participation in the Inn; (4) provide a source of
guidance in upholding the standards of the profession.
Team Mentoring:
While all members of the Inn are charged with the responsibility of
meeting the objective of the mentoring program, each team should
provide individual mentoring to new Inn members who have been
assigned to a respective team.
Each team is responsible to educate new members assigned to the
team on the principals and practices of the Inn at the beginning of
the program season.
Each team member is responsible to ensure that all new and
returning members of the team are involved with and participate in
team presentations. All team members should be given an active role
in the team's presentation and are encouraged to honor their
commitment to their team.
Each team is responsible to ensure that new members assigned to the
team are introduced to other members of the Inn and integrated into
the existing membership.
The members of each team are encouraged to immediately address the
concerns of all of its team members regarding any program issue and
to resolve issues concerning individual participation of its team
members.
Membership Mentoring:
Each Inn member is encouraged to make him/herself available to
junior members of the Inn as a source of guidance, to provide young
Inn members with a network in the profession, and to assist young
professionals in achieving the highest standard of excellence in
professionalism, ethics, and civility.
Each Inn member is encouraged to provide forums for other members
of the Inn to discuss ideas and ways of preserving and promulgating
the highest standards of excellence in the profession.
