Membership Information

The John Marshall Inn has over 100 active members, composed of the following categories of members:

  • Masters of the Bench: Lawyers with at least 10 years of experience, judges, and law professors
  • Barristers: Lawyers with less than 10 years of practice experience, including time spent clerking post graduation 
  • Students: Third Year Students from the University of Richmond School of Law 

By becoming a member of the John Marshall American Inn of Court, individuals automatically become members of the American Inns of Court Foundation. The Foundation provides many services, including a publishing a bi-monthly newsletter, a National Membership Directory, maintaining a national program library, and holding a National Conference annually. Interested in Membership?

Contact the Membership Chair(s) for information regarding joining the Inn and to request application.  Any current Inn member may nominate a potential new member.  The Executive Committee votes to accept new members annually in the spring/summer, before the Inn's first regular meeting in September.
