The American Inns of Court was started by Chief Justice of the United States Warren E. Burger in 1985, and there are more than 350 Inns in 48 states today, plus Tokyo and Guam. Consistent with Chief Justice Burger's purpose, the Coastal Inn of Court exists to promote excellence in professionalism, ethics, and civility in the practice of law in the Grand Strand.
The Coastal Inn of Court was presented with its official charter on October 10, 2014 by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of South Carolina Jean H. Toal. Our litigation-focused Inn is comprised of roughly 70 members, ranging from judges to experienced trial advocates to outstanding students from nearby law schools.
