The Chair of the Mentoring Committee is Michael Stanski, Esq.  He has implemented such projects as Speed Mentorship, Brown Bag Lunches with Duval County Judges, Brown Bag Lunches with Federal Court Judges, and Pupil Resume Review.  Some of his events are showcased below. 

April 18, 2024 - Mentorship Luncheon at the Duval County Courthouse

Duval County Judges Borello, Dearing, Guy, Flower, Salvador and Sharrit hosted a mentorship lunch on this date at the Duval County Courthouse.  This provided a great opportunity to learn from experienced judges as well as enjoy fellowship with the other Inn members.  

April 12, 2024 - Tour of the USS Delbert D. Black

The Chester Bedell Inn of Court members were invited to a tour of the USS Delbert D. Black, an active naval destroyer.  Naval Station Mayport is a vital part of our Jacksonville community.  This provided a great opportunity to enjoy fellowship with the other Inn members while learning about a military asset making news in the Middle East and South China Sea. 

 

March 28, 2024 - Mentorship Luncheon at the Clay County Courthouse

This luncheon was hosted by Judges Wilkinson and Whittington and provided an avenue for members to discuss the profession with judges and attorney members of the Inn.  

 

June 8, 2023 - Mentorship Luncheon at Federal Courthouse

This event was hosted by Judges Howard, Barksdale, and Brown in Judge Howard's chambers at the Federal Courthouse.  The discussion included topics such as notable cases, compliance with the Local Rules, the use of artificial intelligence in briefing/motion practice, and how decisions are made within chambers.  

 

April 4, 2023 - Mentorship Luncheon at Duval County Courthouse

This event was hosted by Judges Borello, Guy, Kite, and Salvador at the Duval County Courthouse.  It was a great opportunity for young lawyers to discuss the profession with judges and attorney members of the Inn.  Other mentoring lunches were hosted by state court judges in Clay and Nassau Counties as well.  The topics included the impact of technology on the practice of law, the importance of civility and in-person interactions, and challenges facing the practice of law now and in the future.  

 

February 9, 2023 - Speed Mentoring

At this event, eight mentors, consisting of pupils, associates, and barristers met with eight masters of the Inn, a mixture of judges and attorneys.  Mentors met with masters one on one for nine minutes before moving to another master.  All mentors met with all masters and gained insightful mentorship on a variety of professional topics while also strengthening bonds within the Inn.  The topics included professionalism, business development, and work-life balance.
