Vassar B. Carlton Inn Celebrates Luau Style

The Vassar B. Carlton Inn of Court held its last event of the year on May 19, 2021, our “End of the Year Banquet”.  It was a momentous occasion as it was the first event hosted in person and was designed to celebrate the end of another successful, yet very different year for our Inn.  Hawaiian shirts and leis were encouraged as attire as it was a luau theme on the deck overlooking the water at the Eau Gallie Yacht Club in Melbourne, Brevard County.  Great food and drinks were served, and the company and networking were even better.  During the evening, our Mentoring Director Scarlett Davidson emphasized how important it was that we maintained our mentor/mentee communications and provided professional courtesies, especially during the difficult year all of us have had.  She also provided a toast (an original Limerick) to our Inn.  Our Program Director Amy Romaine gave a brief update on the various presentations and announced some of our awards for the year, including Associate of the Year Cassidy Petersen and Member of the Year Roger Klaffka.  Finally, our President Judge Jennifer Taylor thanked the entire membership for making the year a success despite the many challenges we all faced, not only personally but professionally.  She also mentioned that we will be recognizing our Inn’s 30th anniversary next year and will be planning a big celebration.  The evening was enjoyed by all as we look forward to our next year, hopefully in person as we “break bread” together and share good company per our historic Inn of Court traditions.
