The Thomas E. Penick Jr. American Inn of Court is the nation's first elder law Inn of Court and the only Inn encompassing three judicial circuits (Florida's 6th, 12th, and 13th Judicial Circuits). The Penick Inn has since expanded to include Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law (RPPTL) members. By engaging and interacting collaboratively and collectively, members of the Penick Inn meet new colleagues, establish professional relationships, expand networking contacts, and learn about and from each other.

The Penick Inn is part of the American Inns of Court which is an association of lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals from all levels of experience, practice, and backgrounds who share a common and unified passion for professional development, camaraderie, and excellence.

The Penick Inn focuses on issues that pertain to and affect senior and elderly populations, driven by fundamental and pressing concerns surrounding and related to professionalism and legal issues of the day. The Penick Inn prioritizes  establishing, promoting, and advancing the highest levels of integrity, ethics, and civility.

The Thomas E. Penick, Jr. American Inn of Court held its inaugural meeting of the Masters on May 7, 2014.

The Penick Inn is named to honor retired Judge Thomas E. Penick, Jr., whose contributions to probate and guardianship are legendary.

2021 - 2022 INN YEAR MEETING SCHEDULE

While we remain eagerly optimistic for in-person meetings to pick up later in the Inn Year, with COVID-19 (and newer variants) continuing to be top of mind, we are proceeding under the following tentative schedule:

Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 5:30 pm – Inn Year Kick-off Meeting (Virtual via Zoom)

Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 5:30 pm – Topic TBD (Virtual via Zoom)

December 2021 – No Meeting

Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 5:30 pm – Book Club/Author Guest Speaker (Virtual via Zoom)

Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at 5:30 pm – Topic TBD (In-Person Circuits or Virtual via Zoom, TBD)

March 2022 – No Meeting

Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 5:30 pm – Topic TBD (In-Person Circuits or Virtual via Zoom, TBD)

Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 5:30 pm – Inn Year Close-out Meeting (In-Person/Socially Distant, TBD)

Meetings/Programs through the end of 2021 will be virtual via Zoom. This supports meeting safely, while also increasing ease and availability for more participants to make and attend meetings.

Meetings/Programs will start promptly at 5:30 p.m. and will end promptly by 6:45 p.m. However, the Zoom virtual meeting room will open to attendees at 5:00 p.m. to allow for social and networking time. This will also allow time for those who wish to commute home or to another location before attending the meeting. Similarly, the Zoom virtual meeting room will remain open for an additional social and networking time until 7:00 p.m.

Once again, at least for the time being, there will be no pupillage groups. Rather, we once again are working hard to include a variety of case law updates and hot topics, speakers, town halls, panels, and more. Programs will continue to focus on being informative, diverse, entertaining, social, and fun.
