The Sam A. Crow American Inn of Court

Greetings,

I am writing you as President-Elect for the 2020-21 year. As you probably guessed, as with every organization, we have had to make some changes this year to the way we hold our meetings. The Executive Board has met, and we have determined that for the months of September, October, and November, we will conduct our meetings by Zoom. We are going to try and squeeze in some additional CLE credit where we can. We will not have a holiday party in December. The Executive Board will then meet again to discuss how to conduct business in the Spring. We would love to have in-person meetings again in the Spring, but we want to do it safely.

Since we have uncertainty for the Spring months and we are going to do our very best to maximize CLE hours, currently, we are keeping dues the same as last year. The dues are as follows:

    - Masters: $300

    - Barristers: $250

    - Associates: $150

Fall Agenda:

Our first meeting will be on September 3rd. We will begin at 5:30 pm. Judge Geier will present the incoming Board, and we will vote accordingly since we were unable to do so last April. Then, our very own, Jared Maag, will give his famous Supreme Court discussion. You will receive 1.5 CLE credits for his presentation that evening.

Our next meeting will be October 1st. We will also begin at 5:30. At this time, we plan to have a panel of Judges discuss the Courts during a pandemic.

Our November meeting will be on November 5th starting at 5:30. Angel Zimmerman and Carolyn Clark will give their presentation on the 19th Amendment.

The program committee is working to put small monthly groups together with the hope of having breakout rooms prior to the monthly CLE presentation. We hope this will facilitate individualized discussion and mentoring. The program committee will provide us with more details as they become available.

I hope you will join us virtually this fall in this more relaxed environment. If you are not familiar with Zoom, please make sure you locate your “mute” button for everyone’s enjoyment while the speakers are presenting.

The Board appreciates your patience while we all navigate these unchartered waters. We all look forward to seeing you. Thank you.
