This year, as part of the Inn's "Achieving Excellence" Program, we are implementing  community service projects that will benefit our localities. For the 2014-2015 year, we organized, planned and participated in two community service projects; a winter coat drive and a school supply drive.  Please see below for more information on both projects, and thanks for your participation!

Our first project will be a winter coat drive.

The William and Mary Law School is assisting us in this worthwhile cause.  We are asking each of our members to consider bringing  clean, gently used or new coats to the school (men's, women's and children's, any weight, any size), where we will collect them.  Collection boxes will be in the lobby of the law school. The coats will then be distributed to a Norfolk agency, "ForKids", which assists homeless  families and children, and the United Way of Greater Williamsburg's Community Resource Center.  Your participation in this worthwhile project is greatly appreciated.

The flyer for the coat drive may be found by clicking on the link below.

UPDATE:   Our coat drive was a huge success.  After the meeting, the coats (totalling 139) were divided between our two agencies -- the United Way of Greater Williamsburg and ForKids in Norfolk.   We collected and donated 68 coats to ForKids, and two huge boxes, with 71 coats, were delivered to the United Way by our law student members.

Thanks to everyone for your generosity, and especially to Ryan Snow who spearheaded this project on behalf of the Inn, and to Jeremy Forrest, Vanessa Rogala and Dean Kaplan for organizing the effort at William & Mary.  This was a great opportunity to give back to our communities.

It is a great time to be part of this Inn.

Our second community service project is a school supply drive.

Once again, in conjunction with the law school, we will be conducting a School Supply Drive to benefit the YWCA of South Hampton Roads and the Avalon Center for Women and Children.  Please see the attached flyer and bring whatever school supplies you can.  As you may remember, in the fall we conducted a coat drive and it was a great success.  Let's show our support for our communities once again.  The flyer for the school supply drive may be found by clicking on the link below.

UPDATE:  The school supply drive was a HUGE success, resulting in a number of plastic tubs and boxes of school supplies being collected and distributed to Avalon, a shelter for women and children in Williamsburg, and to the YWCA of South Hampton Roads.   Backpacks, tons of notebooks, pens & pencils, erasers, scissors, rulers, folders  markers, paint, glue sticks, colored tissue paper, construction paper, poster board, craft materials, kleenex and disinfectant wipes were all collected.  The agencies were very pleased to receive the donations, as they will help the kids that they care for succeed in school.  Thanks to everyone who contributed to this worthwhile project.

We received the following thank yous from Avalon and from the YWCA, for our school supply donations.    Please click on the links below to view them.
