Welcome to the Hudson Inn of Court

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 2012-2013 program of the Hudson Inn of Court.

History of the Hudson Inn of Court

The Hudson Inn was chartered in 1991 by the American Inns of Court Foundation and was created to teach litigation skills, improve trial techniques, foster collegiality and professionalism and improve communication between the bench and bar.  Inn members include Superior Court Judges, Masters (attorneys admitted more than fifteen years), Barristers (attorneys admitted between five and fifteen years), Associates (attorneys admitted less than five years) and Students (judicial law clerks awaiting admission).

Hudson Inn of Court meetings

Meetings are held at the Hudson County Community College Culinary Conference Center located at 161 Newkirk Street, Jersey City (Journal Square), New Jersey.  Garage parking is located directly across the street from the college.  Meetings are held monthly from September to June, except December and February.  While the Inn generally meets on the second Monday of each month, the September meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, to accommodate the schedule of our guest speaker and the October meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, because of the Columbus Day holiday.  Each meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. with the Inn divided into pupilage groups of approximately 25 members at which skills and techniques (e.g., dealing with obstructive adversaries at deposition and trial; making and meeting objections; creation and admission of demonstrative evidence; recognizing and avoiding conflicts of interest) setting and coll) are discussed and demonstrated.  Then, after a brief opportunity to socialize over wine and beer, the entire Inn convenes to listen to a guest speaker or panel discussion or demonstration.  A buffet dinner is  served after the presentation and we endeavor to have you on your way home by 8:30 p.m.

Membership Fees

The annual membership fee is $425.00 which covers the use of the College facilities, cocktail (wine, beer and soda) hour, dinners, program materials and membership in the American Inns of Court Foundation. In cases of hardship, special arrangements can be made for time payments or partial fee remission. The hardship policy is available on request.

This program has been approved by the board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for what we expect will be 16 credit hours, including 2 hours of credit for ethics and professionalism for attendance at all of the meetings during the session.   These credits are also applicable for certification in civil trial law, criminal trial law and or matrimonial law.

If you wish any further information, please feel free to call me or examine the American Inn of Court website at www.innsofcourt.org. We hope that you will be able to join us in September.

Very truly yours,
