As a member of the American Inns of Court, the Doris Jonas Freed Inn is involved in various community outreach programs. Outreach involves hosting, mentoring or providing activities that promote our Inn's movement in the legal community and public in general.

Here are some of our recent efforts:
2020
The Inn donated $500 each to Philabundance and Laurel House. The former is a Philadelphia-area hunger relief organization and the latter is support service organization for those impacted by domestic violence. Donations were made given the impact of the coronavirus upon our community.

2019

The DJF Inn of Court is organized a community service outreach program to benefit veterans through the organization PickupPlease.org, which is run by the Vietnam Veterans of America. We will be accepted donations for this noble effort.

2018

For the 2018 holiday season, through the generous donations of DJF Inn members, the DJF Community Outreach Committee was able to provide $225 in gift cards to victims of sexual abuse through the Chester County Crimes' Victims Center. We were also able to provide $190 in gift cards/cash plus clothing and toiletries to children and families residing at the Domestic Abuse Project shelter in Delaware County. Lastly, we were able to provide a couple of donations to A Women's Place located in Bucks County.

On Saturday, October 13, 2018, members of the Doris Jonas Freed Matrimonial Inn of Court participated in the Chester County, Pennsylvania Light the Night Walk held by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  The one mile walk, which is held all over the country, helps to raise money to benefit research and patient advocacy efforts for persons suffering from Leukemia and other blood cancers.  The Inn's team, the Running Objections, raised approximately $1,000.00 towards this worthwhile cause. Inn Member, Mary Cushing Doherty, also served as the Walk's keynote speaker, reflecting on her late Husband's battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

2017

In 2017, for our first community outreach activity, the members of the Inn have organized a clothing drive through Career Wardrobe, a non-profit organization in Philadelphia.  Career Wardrobe focuses on providing low or no cost work wear to men and women trying to reenter the workforce so that they have appropriate interview and work attire to obtain and maintain employment.  According to their website, 67% of their clients gain employment and discontinue cash assistance. Further information on the organization can be found in the attached document or on their website, careerwardrobe.org.
