Please find attached a description of the Second Annual
Turnaround Management Association and the Honorable John C. Ford
Chapter of the American Inn of Court's "Corporate
Renewal/Restructuring Boot Camp Course". Please note that
this course is not being offered in 2011-2012 but will be again in
the future.
Commencing on or around April 2, 2008, the Dallas/Ft. Worth
Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association and the Honorable
John C. Ford American Inn of Court presented its award-winning
second annual "Corporate Renewal/Restructuring Boot Camp
Course". The course was conducted over the course of ten
consecutive weeks for 1-1/2 hours per session resulting in 15 hours
of CLE and for accounting credits to be determined.
The TMA membership includes highly-trained, experienced
professionals in a wide-range of fields -- corporate restructuring,
business and real estate valuation, financial analysis, auditing,
lending, and the law. The course is taught by non-lawyer
members of the TMA to provide the legal community, and others, with
knowledge of the myriad facets of the corporate restructuring and
bankruptcy process as well as how to best interface with
professionals in other fields. Although the program is
designed for the legal community, TMA members, as well as others,
are attending. The sessions are interactive with ample
opportunities for questions.
Last years program consisted of nine 1-1/2 hour programs and was
taught in the fields of basic accounting principles, reading
financial statements, financial ratios and projections, business
valuation, real estate valuation and explanation of the duties of
the restructuring professionals (turnaround executives versus
consultants), aspects of bankruptcy lending, working with expert
witnesses, and basic income tax principles applied to insolvency
situations. This will again be the format of the class.
There will be an additional 1-1/2 hours of accounting tax
principles presented.
The course revolves around a hypothetical business situation and
the restructuring of the failing business.
Through attending the course, the student will have an
understanding of the turnaround process, its methodology and the
application of its principles to the hypothetical business problem
at hand as well as to the general construct of reorganization.
The charge for the course, which includes the panelist's
materials as well as a graduation dinner is $250 which provides
some of the least expensive CLE to be obtained in the Dallas/Ft.
Worth Metroplex. The classes will be held at the Belo Mansion
in downtown Dallas.
